FAQ's

Weather and Cancellations

What happens if there is bad weather on the day of my reservation?

Safety is our top priority. If severe weather occurs—including lightning, heavy rain, or winds exceeding 15 mph—we will temporarily pause rentals or close for the day. If we cancel your reservation due to weather, you will receive a 100% full refund or the option to reschedule for another date.

How do I know if rentals are open today?

We post operational updates on our website during inclement weather. You can also give us a quick call or text before heading out.

Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?

Yes! You can reschedule or cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours before your scheduled time slot. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your booking are eligible for account credit/rescheduling only.

Safety and Lake Rules

Do I need to wear a life jacket (PFD)?

Yes. Per Texas state law and city regulations, life jackets (PFDs) are required for all paddlers. We provide properly fitted, high-quality life jackets with every rental at no extra charge.

Can I swim in White Rock Lake?

No. Swimming in White Rock Lake has been prohibited by city ordinance since 1953. All rental guests must remain on or in their kayak or paddleboard at all times.

Do I need prior experience to rent?

Not at all. White Rock Lake is typically calm and beginner-friendly. Our staff will provide a quick safety briefing and basic paddling instructions before you launch to ensure you feel confident on the water.

Is there an age limit to paddle?

  • Single Kayaks & SUPs: Minimum age is 12 years old (guests under 18 must have a parent/guardian sign a liability waiver).

  • Tandem Kayaks: Children ages 5 and up may ride in a tandem kayak accompanied by an adult.

 What to Bring and Wear

What should I wear for kayaking or paddleboarding?

Wear quick-drying athletic clothes, swimsuits, or board shorts. Avoid heavy cotton or denim, as it gets heavy when wet. Barefoot is fine on paddleboards, but water shoes or sandals with heel straps (like Tevas or Chacos) are recommended for walking on the shoreline.

What essentials should I bring with me?

We strongly recommend bringing:

  • Sunscreen and a hat

  • Sunglasses (preferably with a floating strap!)

  • Reusable water bottle

  • A dry bag or ziplock bag for your phone, keys, and wallet

Where can I store my personal belongings while on the water?

We offer small cubbies on-site for non-valuable items (shoes, towels, tote bags). However, we encourage you to leave unnecessary valuables locked safely in your vehicle
